White Cheese Sauce

Smooth and creamy cheese sauce. Perfect for broccoli, asparagus, or any other food that just needs cheese poured over the top. This recipe is fairly easy, though it does take time, and lot of loving attention.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 cup, grated cheddar cheese

How To3 Steps

Step 1

Melt butter in small sauce pan. Remove from heat, and stir in flour, salt, and pepper.

Step 2

Gradually add milk, stirring in a little at a time, making sure mixture is smooth. Once all milk has been added, cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and smooth.

Step 3

Cook an additional 5 minutes, before adding cheese. Stir cheese in, until smooth and creamy. Serve hot over your favorite vegetable. 



Chef's Notes

I like to add a little extra cheese. Can use any type of cheese you wish, sharp cheddar is the best as far as flavor goes.
