Ingredients
Dough
- 2 1/4 teaspoons dry active yeast
- 4 1/4 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons, softened unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups, very warm (not hot) water
- 2 tablespoons, very warm (not hot) water
Garlic butter
- 3 tablespoons, melted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
How To6 Steps
Step 1
In a large mixing bowl add 1/4 cup of the warm water, and yeast. Allw to sit for about 10 minutes.
Step 2
Add the flour, sugar, 2 tablespoons of butter, 1 tablespoon of salt, and remaining water to the yeast. Mix until you get a sticky dough.
Step 3
On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for about 5 to 10 minutes, until soft and smooth. Dough should spring back when touched. Roll into a ball, and cut into 12 equal pieces.
Step 4
Line a baking dish with parchment paper. Pre-heat oven to 400.
Step 5
Roll each piece of dough into a long bread stick, and place onto baking tray. Loosely cover with film wrap, and place a cloth on top. Allow to sit for 30 minutes in a warm place, or until doubled in size.
Step 6
In a small dish, add melted butter, salt, and garlic powder, mix well. Brush onto the top of the bread sticks. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm.
