4 cups flour
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup buttermilk
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line baking tray with parchment paper.
In large bowl, combine flour, salt, baking soda, and sugar. Create a well in center; gradually add half the buttermilk. Mix by drawing flour into milk. Continue adding milk until flour becomes moist and dough reaches sticky consistency.
Turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Form into ball and flatten. Place on baking tray. Using sharp knife, mark into quarters with deep cuts (not cutting all the way through). Dust with flour. Bake 30 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding at base. Cool before cutting.
