Thick and creamy homemade potato soup. Perfect for those cold winter days.

6 medium potatoes
1/2 medium yellow onion, diced
2 celery stalks, chopped
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 chicken stock cube
4 cups water
1/2 cup milk
1 cup ham, cubed (optional)
3 tablespoons cornstarch
3 tablespoons cold water
Wash, peel, and cut potatoes into 1-inch pieces; dice onion and celery.
Sauté butter with onion, celery, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until onion is translucent.
Add potatoes, stock cube, water, and optional ham. Bring to boil and simmer until potatoes are tender. Stir in milk.
Mix cornstarch with cold water; add to soup while stirring. Simmer 10 minutes until thickened.
