Hot, fresh bread sticks that are easy to make and go with just about anything.

2 1/4 teaspoons dry active yeast
4 1/4 cups flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons softened unsalted butter
1 tablespoon salt
1 1/2 cups very warm water
2 tablespoons very warm water (for yeast)
3 tablespoons melted butter (topping)
1/2 teaspoon salt (topping)
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (topping)
Mix 1/4 cup warm water with yeast in large bowl; let sit 10 minutes.
Add flour, sugar, 2 tablespoons butter, 1 tablespoon salt, and remaining water; mix until sticky dough forms.
Knead on floured surface 5-10 minutes until soft and smooth. Roll into ball, cut into 12 equal pieces.
Line baking dish with parchment paper; preheat oven to 400°F.
Roll each piece into long stick, place on tray. Cover loosely with film wrap and cloth; let rise 30 minutes until doubled.
Mix melted butter, salt, and garlic powder; brush onto breadsticks. Bake 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
