Deep fried corn dogs, hot dogs coated in a thick layer of corn bread, on a stick. Or cut the hot dogs in half and make mini corn dogs, great for kids parties, or just a later night snack.

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 packs, drained hot dog
  • wooden skewers

How To6 Steps

Step 1

Preheat deep fryer to 350. Drain hot dogs and allow to dry.

Step 2

In large bowl mix together cornmeal, flour, salt, pepper, sugar, baking powder, egg, and milk. Add a little extra milk if too thick. 

Step 3

Cut hot dogs in half, and insert skewers halfway through hot dog.

Step 4

Coat hot dog with cornmeal mixture, and tap to allow extra to drip off. 

Step 5

Submerge corn dog into hot oil until golden brown, about 4 to 6 minutes. Turning the corn dog for even cooking.

Step 6

Allow to drain on paper towels before serving.
