Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

How To3 Steps

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400. Line baking tray with parchment paper.

Step 2

In large bowl, mix flour, salt, baking soda, and sugar together. Make a well in the center, and slowly add half of the butter milk. Mix together by drawing the flour into the milk. Continue to add the milk until the flour is moist, and the dough is sticky.

Step 3

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Form into a ball, and flatten. Place onto the baking tray. With a sharp knife, mark into quarters, cutting deeply, but not completely through. Dust with flour. Bake for 30 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow at the base. Allow to cool before cutting.
